Password Manager Pro Becomes Central Repository for Privileged Passwords of Devices
MELBOURNE, Australia and PLEASANTON, Calif. — March 6, 2013 — ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced it has fortified the management of network device passwords by integrating its network change and configuration management (NCCM) solution, DeviceExpert, with Password Manager Pro, its privileged password management solution. Now, the administrative credentials of switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices managed by DeviceExpert can be securely stored in Password Manager Pro, establishing a single, central repository for sensitive device credentials and other privileged passwords.
ManageEngine made today’s announcement at Cisco Live 2013 being held in Melbourne, Australia, March 5-8, 2013. ManageEngine will demonstrate the integration of DeviceExpert and Password Manager Pro along with the rest of its IT infrastructure management solutions portfolio in booth #54.
Network device configurations contain access credentials, SNMP settings, access control lists and other sensitive data that make them crucial to network security. In many organizations, however, the passwords used to control access to both devices and configurations are scattered across volatile sources without proper, secure management. Administrators may change passwords at random, or they may fail to change them altogether and thereby violate regulations and standards. If credential changes are not made to the NCCM solution, configuration backup and other configuration operations will fail due to outdated credentials.

As the centralized platform for managing network device configurations, DeviceExpert requires passwords to establish connectivity to the devices and to execute configuration operations, including changes. The new integration lets DeviceExpert periodically retrieve the latest device credentials directly from Password Manager Pro, simplifying credential management by eliminating the burden of manually tracking the integrity of credentials.
This integration, using Password Manager Pro’s XML-RPC API over HTTPS, is the most recent addition to DeviceExpert’s list of automated tasks that significantly improve the productivity of an organization’s IT and network management teams.

Password Manager Pro 6.8 is available immediately. In addition to a fully functional, free 30-day evaluation edition, Password Manager Pro is available as a Free Edition, Standard Edition and Premium Edition. Standard Edition prices start at $495 per year for two administrators. Premium Edition prices start at $1,195 per year for five administrators.
