PLEASANTON, Calif. - December 2, 2014 - ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced enhanced password synchronization capabilities for its self-service password management solution, ADSelfService Plus. Available immediately, the latest version of ADSelfService Plus gains a real-time password sync agent that automatically detects native password modifications of Windows accounts and synchronizes them with any associated IT systems and applications, as the modifications occur on domain controllers. The move lets administrators provide end users with secure, real-time synchronization of password changes made within Windows and made with third-party tools.
Most web-based password synchronization solutions usually ignore the password changes happening natively in Windows - for example, password resets done from the Active Directory Users and Computers console by an administrator or password changes done from the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen by an end user. The failure to automatically replicate native password changes means that IT admins must perform the task manually. Any delay in that manual synchronization can create an identity crisis for end users who try to access non-Windows IT systems and applications that are tied to their Windows identity.
“A lot of businesses rely on Active Directory credentials to establish user identities for other systems and applications,” said Parthiban Paramsivam, product manager at ManageEngine. “Those businesses have to ensure each password modification in Active Directory, whether native or web-based, is reflected everywhere the password is used so that users have uninterrupted access to their systems and applications. Now, ADSelfService Plus lets administrators provide end users with a highly secure, instant and seamless password synchronization experience."
With the new password sync agent, ADSelfService Plus lets administrators ensure that native password changes in Windows are in sync with other associated IT systems and applications. The agent functions as a background service on a primary domain controller and constantly scans for password modifications in Active Directory.
As soon as a password modification is detected, the agent encrypts the new password and pushes it out to ADSelfService Plus via HTTPS for synchronization with the user’s associated IT systems and applications. The agent encrypts the password in Active Directory and transmits it via HTTPS to ADSelfService Plus, so the password remains insusceptible to any security threats. The entire process - from users changing their passwords in Active Directory to the passwords being synchronized in target systems and applications - takes less than 30 seconds.
ADSelfService Plus supports a wide range of on-premise systems and cloud-based applications for password synchronization. The password sync agent is capable of synchronizing native Windows password modifications with Google Apps, Office 365, Salesforce, Zendesk, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Zoho, IBM AS/400, HP-UX, Oracle Database and Oracle E-Business Suite.
Administrators have the flexibility to configure ADSelfService Plus such that password synchronization is available to only a select group of users. Users can also select which of their target accounts are to be included in the password synchronization process by linking their non-Windows accounts with ADSelfService Plus.
The new password synchronization agent for ADSelfService Plus is available immediately. ADSelfService Plus pricing starts at $595 per year for 500 users. A free, fully functional, 30-day trial version is available at http://www.manageengine.com/products/self-service-password/download.html.
