Manage DHCP Servers - Beta

This beta version allows you to add your Microsoft DHCP Servers in IP Address Manager to fetch the details of the scopes such as total IP addresses in scope, the allocated IP addresses, the available IP Addresses and the reserved IP addresses.

1. On what Operating Systems can this beta version be installed?

If the DHCP Server and the computer where the OpUtils beta is installed are in the same Windows Domain, you can install the beta version in any of the operating systems listed below:

• Windows XP
• Windows Server 2003
• Windows Server 2008
• Windows 7
• Windows 8
• Windows Vista

If the DHCP Server and the computer where the OpUtils beta is installed are in different domains, you can install the beta version in any of the operating systems listed below:

• Windows Server 2003
• Windows Server 2008

2. Which DHCP Servers do you support?

This beta version supports the following DHCP Servers:

• Microsoft DHCP Server 2003
• Microsoft DHCP Server 2008

3. Is it recommended to install this beta version in the production environment?

No, do not install the beta version in a production environment

4. When a GA version is released, will you support migrating the data from the beta setup?

No, data migration from the beta setup will not be supported

5. What features does it support?

• You will be able to add all your DHCP Servers in to IPAM tool
• Monitor all the IP scopes defined in the DHCP Server with the details like
  • Total IP Addresses in the scope
  • Leased IP Addresses
  • Available IP Addresses
  • Reserved IP Addresses
  • Alert Notification when Leased IPs reach a specified limit

6. Can I allocate an IP to a device from OpUtils?

No, currently this is not supported. You will not be able to perform any actions on the DHCP Server from OpUtils.

Setting Up DHCP Beta

To setup the DHCP beta, follow the steps below:

1. Download and install the OpUtils EXE. The download link will be sent via email. Do not install in production environment. Check for the supported Os where you can install this beta and install accordingly.
2. Login to OpUtils Web Console and click IP Address Manager tab
3. Click Add DHCP Server link or right-click DHCP Servers tree node and choose Add DHCP Server
4. Specify the name or the IP Address of the DHCP Server.
5. Click Add Domain and add the domain details of the computer where the DHCP Server is installed.
6. Choose the domain and click Add
7. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for adding all the DHCP Servers

Once added, you will be able to view the details of scopes defined in the DHCP Servers with the details of total, leased, available IP Addresses. You will also be able to configure email alerts when the leased IP Addresses reach a specified limit. Follow the steps below to configure:

1. Click Settings
2. Choose the Configure Alerts tab
3. Specify when an alert has to be sent
4. Choose the mode for the alert as Email or as Syslog messages.
5. Click Save.
