To backup Exchange Reporter Plus database, follow the below mentioned steps.

  • Stop Exchange Reporter Plus (Click on Start → All Programs → Exchange Reporter Plus → Stop Exchange Reporter Plus).

Note : In case you have installed Exchange Reporter Plus as a NT Service, stop the service (Start → Run → type services.msc → Stop "ManageEngine Exchange Reporter Plus" ).

  • Open the command prompt (Run as administrator) → Navigate to <installation dir.>\Exchange Reporter Plus\bin → Execute “backupDB.bat” file to take a backup of your existing database.

A folder named “Backup” will be created under (eg: C:\Program Files\Manage Engine\Exchange Reporter Plus), which will contain the database in compressed file format(eg : 101217-1054.zip).

Backup/restore of database is applicable to same build number of Exchange Reporter Plus. You can get the current build number under the "License" link.

  • Take a copy of Patch Folder present in <installation dir\Exchange Reporter Plus> folder (*Applicable only if the Exchange Reporter Plus in old server is a migrated one(Service Pack applied)).
  • Download and install the same build number of Exchange Reporter Plus on a new server machine.

  • Stop Exchange Reporter Plus (Click on Start → All Programs → Exchange Reporter Plus → Stop Exchange Reporter Plus) on the new server machine and copy and paste the compressed file format (database) under the <installation dir.>\bin (eg: C:\ManageEngine\Exchange Reporter Plus\bin).
  • Paste the Patch Folder under the <installation dir\Exchange Reporter Plus> (as mentioned in step 3) (*Applicable only if the Exchange Reporter Plus in old server is a migrated one(Service Pack applied)).
  • Open the command prompt (Run as administrator) → Navigate to <installation dir.>\Exchange Reporter Plus\bin → Run the batch file "restoreDB.bat" from command prompt with the compressed file format (eg: restoreDB.bat 101217-1054.zip) to restore the database in new server machine.

You can connect to the Exchange Reporter Plus database using a web browser. Type in the below text in the address bar and get access to your database.

The gathered data is stored in the PGSQL database located on the Exchange Reporter Plus installation directory. During the automatic cleanup process, only the "Hourly Based" data for reports "Organization Traffic", "Server Traffic", "Custom Recipients Traffic", "Distribution List Traffic" and "Mailbox Traffic" will be cleaned up automatically after 35 Days. All other data will not get deleted.
